Thornton tops SLMR Series at Lafayette County; adds Modified win at Boone
Dylan Thornton got an early start to his race weekend with a trip to Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway (Dubuque, Iowa) on Thursday for the Malvern Bank East Series opener aboard his Kay Motorsports No. 38T Warrior Race Cars Late Model.
Pinned on the sixth row for the $3,000-to-win A-Main via a third-place heat outing, Dylan charged forward six spots in the 30-lap affair to register a sixth-place finish.
In a field of 21 Malvern Bank East Series entries on Friday at Lafayette County Speedway (Darlington, Wis.), Thornton followed up the sixth-fastest qualifying effort with a fourth-place finish in his heat. Starting the feature in third, Dylan overtook Dave Eckrich in the final laps to secure his eighth win of the season and third in the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model. He earned a $3,000 winner’s payday.
Driving his Salty’s BBQ & Catering No. 38T Modified into victory lane on Saturday night at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa), Dylan bested Jeremy Mills in the 20-lap feature to claim his ninth overall victory of the 2024 campaign.
He also competed in The Hawkeye Challenge on Saturday evening where he recorded a 12th-place finish in the 25-lapper.
