Thornton Wins Iowa Dirt Nationals Finale
Dylan Thornton entered the Iowa Dirt Nationals over the weekend at Maquoketa (Iowa) Speedway. A talent-laden field of 50 IMCA Modifieds entered the program on Friday night, and after finishing sixth in his heat race, Dylan was relegated to a B-Main, where he charged from fifth-to-second to earn the 23rd-starting spot for the finale.
The 25-lap feature found Thornton racing past 14 competitors to cross the finish line in the ninth position.
The event drew to a close on Saturday evening with a $1,500-to-win program. Dylan hit the ground running by racing from the seventh-starting spot to a second-place finish in his heat race.
Earning the second-starting spot for the feature via the redraw, Thornton streaked to the victory with Jeff Larson, Ethan Braaksma, Jeremiah Hurst, and Jason Schueller completing the Top 5.
